Never Passed a Bijoya Like This

Bijoya Dashami is an well known day when our minds stay full with pain. Ma is going back. And we need to get back to our ordinary schedule again from tomorrow. We got to reengage ourselves to the same tension and jostling from where we managed to escape ourselves for the three days.

Where I live, hardly any trace of puja can be found. And wasting 3 days is somewhat out of conception. We managed escape away only on Ashtami... but from the very next day people were eagerly sat in their chairs with their eyes fixed on their monitors.

Time during puja is very painful when you are away from your root. You get the news that all your childhood friends with whom you used to make fun and ramble about just a few months back, have re-gathered and visiting the pujas in your city. All of them are together again and having a lot of fun... and you, alone, so many kilometers away, thinking that how the road beside your home might look like when the freshly bathed girls pass through it with wearing new sarees with water dripping from their hairs... and the para boys stare at them sitting on their bicycles with the neck almost 180 degrees bent. How the electric decoration bulbs change the color of the walls during night, what was the theme of the biggest puja in your locality this year....

You think about these all the day and the more you think, the more you feel sad. And the more you waste time.

Lazy morning

In Wednesday, classes start from late in the afternoon. In the morning around 9:30 not many people are awake. It seems that the night have extended itself. The shadowy corridors of the hostel seem gloomy. Wet shirts hung in the window forces us to keep the light on.

Staying awake is a tough job. Specially during the day.

Do I write too few blogs?

I boast that Blogging is my hobby. Then when I say I write 2 or three blogs per week on average people laugh at me. This is very humiliating I tell you.

May be I should write more. Here at the campus in the beginning things seem so messed up and I am taking so much time to settle and stop thinking :D

But nevertheless, I should write more... The next issue of Rahman was already been written way back (along with the one last posted) but I acted as a miser and delayed the posting. Now wile I have shifted myself, it seems I have forgotten to bring a copy of that file. This is too bad. I feel very very sad at this. I will do a overhaul search in my dvd collection to see if I have backed it up. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I have also updated my website a bit and hosted the updated version in my IITB home page. So the current address of my home page is:
http://www.cse.iitb.ac.in/~joydip

Meanwhile Yahoo plans to discontinue the geocities service within a few months. So, my older site will be discontinued anyway!

I have so many things to share!

This is gonna be an ultimate random rubbish post. It's like when I say I have so many things to say... I am actually too lazy to say anything. That's why I gathered so much stuffs....

I am too lazy... These days I even find it lazy to get up... I like sleeping on and on with nobody waking you up and definitely not a TTE in 2839 down Chennai Mail in 1 AM.

I had to go to Chennai to give an Interview. The train was at night, in the middle of it at 12 o'clock. See, I am so lazy that I am not going to say more... And I am feeling too sleepy too. And fifty percent of my brain is probably not working... so I should stop.

Hey! I should blog something more sensible... not silly useless travelogue like this.... Still I will try to write a blog sharing my experiences in the Detroit of India. Ok... no commitments in my blog... Whatever I say is that I will try to try.

But no today. I will talk about Chennai Mail, Chennai Central, Chennai Park, Annapurna Hotel, Marina Beach, Golden Beach, Dolphin Park and the Sea Lion Clara, Mahavalipuram, Kanchipuram, Adyar, etc some other day... I am feeling too much dizzy now.

Cream of the crop: 69 of top 100 JEE rankers pick IIT-Bombay

(Pasted from TOI. Original article here)
-----------------------------------------------------------

MUMBAI: The composition of the elite technological club has changed. A decade ago admission to the IIT-Kanpur ensured demi-god treatment. Only
the brightest and the best could get past the gates there.

No longer. Mumbai is the new Kanpur, with Delhi and Chennai snapping at its heels. A look at the students’ choice of institute by the top 100 JEE rankers down the last half-a-decade reveals that preferences have changed dramatically. A number of factors have been responsible for the reordering, from geography to gastronomy and placement records to what coaching classes preach to students.

Of the top 100 JEE-2009 rankers, considered the elite group among engineering aspirants around the country, 69 students preferred to join IIT-Bombay over any other IIT. This was followed by Delhi — where 19 of the top-100 — have been admitted. While Bombay has been bettering its performance over the years, number of toppers going to Delhi has slipped.

"IIT-B's decision to introduce minors in all programmes has seen more students wanting to come to the Powai campus," reasoned the institute's JEE-2009 chairman A Pani. In 2008, the institute ushered in academic reforms and permitted students to pick a minor course along with the core area of specialisation. This, explained Pani, has resulted most streams opening and closing admissions at higher ranks than previous years.

On each IIT campus, the top 100 students are considered as the rich creamy icing. Twenty years ago IIT-Kharagpur was the engineering mecca. The oldest IIT of the country, IIT-Kharagpur did not receive a single student from the top hundred this year; and before that, in 2004, only three of the top 100 went there.

A former JEE chairman explained, "While Bombay and Delhi were still building themselves, Kharagpur's students had already occupied top positions in big companies. Students looked at Kharagpur's illustrious alumni and rushed there. Now this has changed."

The Heat is On

It was never so hot summer in West Bengal. It is mid-May and the temperature averages at 42 degrees. Accompanying it there is LOO. The hot and dry wind of central India has somehow spread its area of influence up to Bengal. The sun is so bright that even the rickshaw pullers had to put hood over their head. The uncle next door suddenly looks like Agent Smith as he puts on a stylish sunglass. The white cotton hat has become so popular that every other person looks like Subhas Chakraborty. If you look at any road at around mid-day, you will see it as empty as curfew. Even if some one can be seen, they look like unconscious people dragging themselves forward. The sun has sucked all energy from them like the Glucon-D ad.

Plus there is election heat. As the election phase coming to an end the faces has already began to change their dialogs. While Rahul Gandhi suddenly declares how sure he is about the event of Left supporting Congress again, Karat also suddenly become soft on Cong. The INC is really in a typical win-win situation in West Bengal. While they have pre-poll seat sharing with Trinamool, it seems the CPM led left-front also eventually support them.

The provision of post poll alliance in Indian constitution is actually a betrayal to the voters. The people who have fought against each other in the election, ends up in supporting each other to be in power. Suppose in my center there are two candidates from party-A and party-B. I have particular hatred towards say B, so I vote for A. But I see after election party-A ends up in supporting B. Isn’t it a betrayal? In most of the case voters even don’t know whom they are voting. What will be their agenda and who will be the prime minister.

While one party is inherently anarchist (Why Pranab Mukherjee can not be the prime minister? The answer should be very clear.) The other party has definitely lost a significant mileage just before the election (Is Barun Gandhi is appointed by his Auntie to sabotage BJP? – Just kidding). Let’s not talk about the third-front. We don’t even know who is in and who is out, what their agenda is, and who they project as Prime Minister. If the regional parties get the power, they will first secure their regional interests. Won’t the national interest of India take a back seat?

Ok… that’s it. No more political talks. I should be perfectly apolitical in my blog, where I talk and in every aspect of my life. So I give every party equal mark. I give every one 100%... keep it up; you are doing a wonderful job.

“Well… not actually. I met an old man in the path. He was a sacred walker too. He told me about the southern hill before dying. Like the hill is covered with grass and bushes and discrete trees. Except that, the hill is almost barren. Some rabbits, porcupines, dears may be found there.”

“What’s the specialty? That’s almost the description of any other hill.”, asked Rahman.

“Wait… Let me complete first. There is absolutely nothing special about the hill in the morning. It is just like any other hills scattered all around. But as soon as the sun goes down everything changes.”

“Changes to what?”, asked Rahman.

“Now if you interrupt me any further, I wont speak another word. Please shut up and listen to me when I am talking”, Ziah got furious at Rahman. She probably had a hobby of getting furious at people, any time, any where and on whatever reason.

“No, no. I am sorry. Please continue”, Rahman apologized although there was no apparent fault of himself. Apologizing had got into Rahman’s blood.

“Yes, everything changes with the sunset. Bushes becomes grand doors, small hillocks become great palaces, rabbits become sentries, porcupines become heavily armed guards and a live city appears out of nowhere. And in the middle of the city there is a big castle. A castle guarded by soldiers of the flip side.”, said Ziah.

“You mean something as bizarre as this actually happens?”

“If you think I am lying, then you are free to believe whatever you like. Haven’t you seen enough bizarre things already?”

It was true. Whatever was happening around Rahman was actually too bizarre to believe. Rahman said, “It’s not that I don’t believe you. But if everything changes with the sunset how come none of the people know about it. If the barren hill changes to a lively city as the sun sets, the southern hill should be a famous place, no? how come none of the people haven’t yet noticed anything?”

“That’s because the change is visible only to the chosen ones. Only the sacred walkers can see the city and the castle. Other people just sees the hill as it is.”, said Ziah.

“Ok, this makes sense. And it almost matches with the riddle in the parchment and what the Bhaisaab just said. But tell me,..."

“what riddle? And what parchment?”

Rahman told her everything about the first stop and the parchment he got inside the bread.

“Wow! You have a handful of resources then.”, Ziah chuckled.

Worst Movies I have seen in my life

Here goes a list of movies that I advice everybody NOT TO SEE. If somewhere the movie is playing run away as fast as you can.

NOTE: The list has been created as the names come in my mind. The movies are not sorted in any way.
RGV ki AAG
I could not bear the torture even for 10 minutes!

Sawariya
The best known sleeping pill!

Mon Amour
This ~2.5 hours of pure torture. On top of that "Du Taakar Churmur!". OMG!!! LOL...

Yuvvraaj
Songs are good except MASTAM MASTAM. But the movie is stupid.

Hello! (adaptation of One Night @ Call Center)
What an awful movie from such and wonderful novel. The director has killed the story... he must be put in jail.

The POSENJIT type Bengali movies
When will Swapan Saha and Haranath Chakraborty understand that copying Hindi and Tamil style in Bengali movies kills the individuality and USP of Bengali Cinema itself.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
So great story board, and what a boring movie! Yes, the end is good. Specially the portion after Benjamin gets married to the end is great. But you need to sustain the preceding boredom to reach there.

Jhoom Barabar Jhoom

No story whatsoever.

Mangal Pandey

They have found mountains in Barrackpore!!!

Darna Zaroori Hain

It would have been a good movie if RGV managed to spare the childrens.

(MORE NAMES TO COME)

Rahman - Issue 3

Issue 1: Click here (Issue 1 combines all prior issues)

Issue 2: Click Here

“WHACKK!!! There is something inside. A piece of thick perchment was peeping out from the bitten off corner of the bread. Rahman quickly ate the bread and got the paper out. Some message was written on it.

Rahman read the message on the paper very carefully.

Now… what is that? First a weird coin then some weird people and now these puzzle parchment? What is this? Some kind of weird jewel quest, treasure hunt?

After eating up the bread Rahman started thinking. “Now,” he thought, “the puzzle doesn’t seem to be that tough off hand. Especially the first two lines are rather easy. It just seems to tell to go south. But what does crude man? A crude man? Crude oil? What? And what about the hill, castle etc?... whatever, the puzzle tells to go south… if only I had the power of the coin, I could cross check.”

Unmindfully Rahman tossed the coin again. “Wow!!! This stuff works again… I’ve got a new destination I guess” and guess what… the coin pointed south.

* * *

Then Rahman started his walk again. This time towards south as dictated by the coin. He was not sure whether it was a mirage he was looking for. Yet he didn’t stop. For one simple reason, he had nothing else to do. Everything is better than going back to Sadhan Uncle. Inside the bread along with the paper there was also two five hundred rupee notes. So it was not so hard to survive. But this time Rahman spent the money very carefully. The sacred walker must reach his destination before resources run out.

But there was just void and void towards the south. Only stretches of barren land, some scattered agriculture and very few human localities. He started to get fed up mentally now. What did the puzzle say? In the south, there is crude? Did it mean this crude nature? Barren lands, and heat of June? And then there is a mention of some hill. A southern hill?

Rahman was nearing a locality. A small village with hardly ten or twelve households. Rahman noticed an elderly man walking slowly by the village road. The man was leaning forward and had a stick. Rahman called him, “Bhaisaab!”

The man stalled. Waited for a second or so. Then slowly turned his face towards Rahman. Now Rahman could see his face. Yes, the man was really very old. His face was covered with wrinkles all the way around.

Rahman asked the man, “Bhaisaab, is there any hill to the south?” The man replied in a even slower pace, “May be or may not be. Everything depends on who you are and when you see. Everything is according to the sun.”

Now that is enough. Rahman had already had enough of the strange puzzles and messed up words! It seems no one in this place talks straight. Rahman was thinking all these things when suddenly someone patted Rahman’s back and yelled, “Hey! Did you just said ’hill to the south’?

She was a teenage girl. With medium height, and curly hair. She was wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Both of the dresses had the sign of a long journey. Her face was also dusty and hairs mingled. But the first thing you would notice on her would be her bright blue eyes.

Rahman was too astonished to speak. He just said ‘Ya!… I mean yes.’… but who are you? How do you know about the hill to the south?

“I am Ziah, a sacred walker”, said the girl after clearing her throat a bit. She spoke the words as if she was announcing that she had just won the Nobel.

“So am I. What’s the big deal?” Rahman was regaining his confidence.

“You too! Well, it doesn’t seem so. Whatever, even if you are, you are not going to find out any thing anyway. You better fuck off.”

“Find out what?”, Rahman said indifferently. He had already seen enough rudeness in life. So these things hardly had any effect on him.

“So you do not even know what you are looking for! Wow… good job done!” the girl broke into giggles. When the laughter phase was over, the girl continued, “I really can not decide why on earth you are going on! I really wonder how you became a sacred walker on the first place. I am sure you don’t even know what a sacred walker is.”

“Sacred walkers are what then?”

The girl was a bit serious now. “Are you sure that you are persuing this path? Being a sacred walker is not an easy job. There are lots of deadly dengers at the southern hill”

“You have already gone to the southern hill?”

Concept of Infinite in Ancient India from īśopaniṣad

The Isha Upanishad (īśa upaniṣad, otherwise Ishopanishad īśopaniṣad or īśāvāsya upaniṣad) is one of the shortest of the Upanishads, consisting of 17 or 18 verses in total; like other core texts of the vedanta, it is considered revealed scripture (Śruti) by diverse traditions within Hinduism. The name of the text derives from the incipit, īśā, "by the Lord (Isha)". The Upanishad appears in the final chapter (adhyāya) of the Shukla Yajurveda, but is historically one of the latest of the principal (mukhya) Upanishads, dating approximately to Mauryan times.

The short text covers a wide spectrum of philosophy, religion, ritualism and metaphysics.

দিয়ে যায় কতনা বাহবাই;

New banner in blog

At last... at last... at last. This blog got it's own banner. With pictures and cartoon like what was wanted. The process was a bit weird. To speak frankly, i am terrible in drawing (u probably know that after seeing my crap cartoons in some previous posts. Excluding the ones drawn by my little sis, the rest was so disgusting that myself had too resize the pictures to a smaller size that the overall look of my blog is not much ruined. At a point of time I had the idea of deleting the posts altogether.) So, with this terrible drawing skill i started to draw cartoons for the banner. I was more skeptical of drawing them on computer (be it in photoshop or simple ms paint). So, i sketched in my exercise book, took a snap in mobile, transferred to PC, then started with photoshop. Added the default background, put the banner text, and drew the cartoons taking reference from the hand drawing.

I hope all these things have worked a bit. Please give me your precious feedback.

I personally feel that the banner really makes my site a real Bhat site. Where everything is nonsense and joke. But it's not the case. I do write serious stuffs once in a blue moon.

Fashion - Movie Review

Another Madhur Bhandarkar movie. But i have to say Madhur has started to develop his own cliches. Like the same bunch of gay people in all movies and so on... And in Fashion it crossed limits yaar! Like every odd person is a GAY!!!!

The main problem with Fashion is that it's too much predictable. Like when Meghna gets too overconfident and arrogant over her quick success, we start worrying that she must fall quick and murmur some common sayings like "Pride goes fall" and all that.
And that happens too...
Like when Abhijit Sarin, the Panace boss contracts Meghna as the new 'Face' being seemingly unfair to previous face Shonali, we all think that there must be some underlying sexual contracts also being signed. We all can predict what is going to happen next. Like my friend said, there is no twists.

The film stands on some really powerful performances by specially Kangna Ranaut and Priyanka Chopra. Kangna really acted awesome. Among others, Kitu Kidwani and Mugdha Godse are notable.

But hey!!! Someone please do something with the bunch of gay people flocking around the whole movie.

Get this widget | Track details | eSnips Social DNA

Hello vs One Night @ Call Center

It's sad to see how bollywood masala flicks make a mess out of a decent novel. When i read One Night @ Call Center by Chetan Bhagat, it was really unputdownable. The way the story unfolds, the light in which relationships are shown, the catchy young easy flowing language, the sharp sense of humour, the novel was really awesome. Even the really long portion where God gives you some useful gyaan, it seems more like your best friend talking than some father of some church or some monks.

But what we see in the movie?

Although i have seen really a small portion of the film (from where Vroom throws stone at the Cola hoarding to the end), the rotten smell of a bad film comes out from every possible scene. The screenplay is childish, the dialogs are rotten, the sharp humor is just replaced by poor wannabe jokes, and everybody acts so stupid that the story itself is destroyed. Great dialogs and scenes are totally wiped out. The act of rescuing themselves with the help of dupattas have been replaced, the bike stunt at the end is completely removed even the fantastic stuff with MS Word was also wiped away. Probably the filmmakers thought all of us are more like buffoons like Bakshi.

Although I have missed almost all the songs of the film, but as i have listened to the album, i can assure you that they are equally bad. And just imagine the scene where Chetan Bhagat the author and God herself dancing in an ITEM NUMBER!!!! OMG!!!!!!

In summery the movie was PAINFUL and complete injustice... well in fact, CHEATING to all the people like me who loved the novel One Night @ Call Center by Chetan Bhagat and had a lot of expectation.

The time is really bad for me. Nothing is working out as planned. ;)

দুঃখীর দুঃখ;

এমনি করেই জানি শেষ হবে জীবনটাই;

The Jumblies - Edward Lear

They went to sea in a Sieve, they did,
in a Sieve they went to sea:
in spite of all their friends could say,
on a winter's morn, on a stormy day,

in a Sieve they went to sea!
And when the Sieve turned round and round,
and everyone cried, 'You'll all be drowned!'
they called aloud, 'Our Sieve ain't big,
but we don't care a button! We don't care a fig!
In a Sieve we'll go to sea!'

Far and few, far and few,
are the lands where the Jumblies live;
their heads are green, and their hands are blue,
and they went to sea in a Sieve.

They sailed away in a Sieve, they did,

in a Sieve they sailed so fast,
with only a beautiful pea-green veil
tied with a riband by way of a sail,
to a small tobacco-pipe mast;
and everyone said, who saw them go,
'O won't they be soon upset, you know!

For the sky is dark and the voyage is long,
and happen what may, it's extremely wrong
in a Sieve to sail so fast!'
Far and few, far and few,
are the lands where the Jumblies live;
their heads are green, and their hands are blue,
and they went to sea in a Sieve.

The water it soon came in, it did,
the water it soon came in;
so to keep them dry, they wrapped their feet
in a pinky paper all folded neat,
and they fastened it down with a pin.
And they passed the night in a crockery-jar,
and each of them said, 'How wise we are!
Though the sky be dark, and the voyage be long,
yet we never can think we were rash or wrong,
while round in our Sieve we spin!'

Far and few, far and few,
are the lands where the Jumblies live;
their heads are green, and their hands are blue,
and they went to sea in a Sieve.

And all night long they sailed away;

and when the sun went down,
they whistled and warbled a moony song
to the echoing sound of a coppery gong,
in the shade of the mountains brown.
'O Timballoo! How happy we are,
when we live in a Sieve and a crockery-jar,

and all night long in the moonlight pale,
we sail away with a pea-green sail,
in the shade of the mountains brown!'
Far and few, far and few,
are the lands where the Jumblies live;
their heads are green, and their hands are blue,

and they went to sea in a Sieve.

They sailed to the Western Sea,they did,
to a land all covered with trees,
and they bought an Owl, and a useful Cart,
and a pound of Rice and a Cranberry Tart,
and a hive of silvery Bees.
And they bought a Pig, and some green Jackdaws,
and a lovely Monkey with lollipop paws,
and forty bottles of Ring-Bo-Ree,
and no end of Stilton Cheese.
Far and few, far and few,
are the lands where the Jumblics live;
their heads are green, and their hands are blue,
and they went to sea in a Sieve.

And in twenty years they all came back,
in twenty years or more,
and everyone said, 'How tall they've grown!
For they've been to the lakes, and the Torrible Zone,
And the hills of the Chankly Bore';
and they drank their health, and gave them a feast
of dumplings made of beautiful yeast;
and everyone said, 'If only we live,
we too will go to sea in a Sieve,
to the hills of the Chankly Bore!'

Far and few, far and few,
are the lands where the Jumblies live;
their heads are green, and their hands are blue,
and they went to sea in a Sieve.

Delhi Blasts: How many needs to die before it's "too late"?

As of now, at least 18 people have died and nearly 90 others injured in the New Delhi serial blasts (source: NDTV). First Hydrabad, then Jaipur, next Ahmadabad and now it is Delhi again. Same type of blasts, same type of equipments and may be done by the same group too. And home ministry is saying, "All are low intensity blasts." Wow!!!

Yes, I do feel India is becoming more and more a soft target for the terrorism. If the IB, and other intelligence organizations of the central govt. were doing their duties how these things happen I don't know. Irresponsible. What else can I call the officials? Taking grands of money (take into account the hike after 6th pay commission also) and not doing their duty. I know it is a lot more easier to say than do, but yet, it is the officials and police upon whom we rely in terms of security. And govt. is bound to provide it's citizens a secure life which possibly it doesn't. There is irresponsibility in terms of investigation and in terms of prosecutions also. After these kinds of heinous events, this is the very image of the govt. that is projected upon common citizens like me.

The second thing is, I feel, Indians are very much akin in escaping the rules. We freely enter the station through the exits, freely drop garbage in wherever we can, freely encourage auto rickshaws to break the traffic rules, freely smoke in "No Smoking" railway compartments and petrol pumps, freely take articles in the train which is prohibited, freely bend the law wherever we can.

And here in India we find lobbyists working for even the most dreaded extremists and criminals. The kind heart of our netas cry for ALL. We heard UP leaders working hard for lifting the ban upon SIMI. We saw rallys in favour of the mercy petition of Md. Afzal. Treating the people of India as vote banks and dividing them in sects, casts, religions and playing ill schemes... how long these will go on?

I saw two friends in a park which seemed to me the Paalki Bazaar rooftop, the boy and the girl both was blown in a blast. Two policemen was dragging the boy in blue shirt in one side and four other people was taking the girl with blue denim and yellow kurti in the opposite side. There was blood all over the girl's face and shoulder and blood was dripping all over the concrete floor.

I could have been in Delhi right now if things didn't get messed up a few days back. I could have taken the M.Tech course at JNU... and I could have been one among the list. But as long as we are safe we should just sit and enjoy the news in the TV during the breaks of our favorite soap opera. But who knows? May be it's our city next in the list to be blown...

I know this is the very things they want to achieve. To inject panic in our heart. To make us feel insecure all the way. But what we need to do is react not get panicked.

Please....
  1. Try to follow the rules all the way. Rules are designed to help and protect us. You do not become a HERO when you break the rules.
  2. Please react when the man next to you lights up a cigarette in a rail compartment. Please say you are having problem in it. Please react when you see wrongs are being done. If we all become like Satyendra Dubey, no more Satyendra Dubey will get killed. Even now, I strongly feel most of us are noble by heart. Just show externally what you feel internally. Don't keep mum.
  3. Please help your fellow citizen when he/she needs it. Please don't try to avoid situations.
  4. Please do not get panicked and spread panic and rumors.
We all, if we act together, can keep India a safe and secure place to live.

Jai Hind.

Close Your Eyes

Close your eyes, and think some thing beyond. Think something new that you never thought before. Let your imagination fly and you fly as well with her. In places you never gone before... in things that never are.

What do you see?

It's a lot fun... believe me... just do it. Just close your eyes and shut your mind inside and let it be at it wants to be. Let your mind think freely and you type what you see.

Ok I am testing it now...

I see a long road. With high rises in both of the sides (probably an effect of Mafia), This is a kind of flyover. At one side there are stretch of high rises and high rises; the other side can not be seen. I see a man, slim, medium height with red-black check full sleeve shirt and a black formal trouser running on the flyover. There is no cars...

Now i see that man (and that road) beside a grassy field, the man is running and running... only the back side of the man can be seen; i can not see his face.

The running is more like a exercise kind of thing than running for some cause. The man is quite agile.

The man stops near a old house... very old in deed with green door... he enters it.

(That's all folks...)

The Semester Times (Those days ain't way back)

====================

HZBRL

Aaaha... My Broadband is back again! And i am again up with my diary-type posts. Ok I have very very limited tim. I need to get out of my room and reach there 6 pm.

Mafia is a cool game when the realistic behavior matters. You can roam around a city, use trains or trams, can walk into place or in other times drive by the roads and alleys. Besides, it has, racing, car chasing, driving, shooting, shooting while driving, stealth action, gun fight, dogs, padestrians, lots of things to interact with.... It is cool except the Race mission....

Bye as of now... I am in a HURRY!!!!!!!!!

Chatting with a virtual entity.

Here i will present a conversation with a chatterbot based on Paris Hilton. The bot is available in one of my previous post. I am copy pasting one of my conversation with the AI because I found that really amazing. Can you believe the conversation given below is actually with a virtual entity!!!!!

Here it is:

-----------------------------
Paris: Welcome to Paris land. Here everything is about me, me, me!
You: Guess who i am!
Paris: Quit teasing me! Come on. Tell me now.
You: I have already told you my name.
Paris: You did? Oops. Where did I drift off to when you told me that I wonder? Tell me again.
You: Ok. This is for the last time.
Paris: It is? That's an interesting observation.
You: My name is Rimi.
Paris: My name is Paris. Isn't that weird. Your name is pretty cool.
You: Do you know someone called France?
Paris: I don't know anyone French. Do you Rimi?
You: Nor am i. Tell me, where do you live?
Paris: I'm at my day spa, just checking some online things before going for a massage.
You: What is the time by your watch now?
Paris: Oh, I'm on LA time so it won't be the same as your time
You: That's why I am asking.
Paris: Have I not answered you?
You: No
Paris: Ok then Rimi.
You: Then what?
Paris: Then what do you think?
You: I asked you the time.
Paris: Yeah but I can't think of anything to say that wouldn't sound totally stupid
You: Hmm. You don't have that kind of programming.
Paris: Hmmmm is good right? Or is it bad. or does that just mean undecided?
You: Hmm means I agree.
Paris: So you should, I'm always right

Isn't it kool?

BanglaEd in Javascript

Hi!
I am now working on porting BanglaEd in Javascript. Here is the first peek of the same. This project is far from being completed but as this is nothing but a web page, i can release as soon as i do a little bit. So, the first 'little bit' is here.

What is BanglaEd?
BanglaEd is a Unicode based Bangla text editor. It has been previously developed in C/C++ and Java. Now work is being done to do the same using Javascript.

How to Type in BanglaEd?
Just put your cursor in the text box marked as "Type Here" and you can see Bangla text just below it. Use the Reset button to wipe out everything.

Where is the key-map?
The key-map or which-English-letter-stands-for-which-Bangla-Letter is given below :

a -> অ | A -> আ | i -> ই | I -> ঈ | u -> উ | U -> ঊ | R -> ঋ | _____ | e -> এ | E -> ঐ | o -> ও | O -> ঔ

k -> ক | K -> খ | g -> গ | G -> ঘ | q -> ঙ |
c -> চ | C -> ছ | j -> জ | J -> ঝ | Q -> ঞ |
x -> ট | X -> ঠ | z -> ড | Z -> ঢ | N -> ণ |
t -> ত | T -> থ | d -> দ | D -> ধ | n -> ন |
p -> প | f -> ফ | b -> ব | v -> ভ | m -> ম |

y -> য | r -> র | l -> ল | _____ | S -> শ | F -> ষ | s -> স | h -> হ |

M -> ং | H -> ঃ | ^ -> ঁ |

` -> হসন্ত (্‌)

But how to write "Yuktakkshars"?
Note: To type 'Yuktakshars', use hasant intuitively. For example, to write
ক্ষ, type 'k' followed by '`' (hasant) followed by 'F'.

Similarly,

ঞ্জ = Q + ` + j

প্র = p + ` + r

র্প = r + ` + p

প্য = p + ` + y

E.g. to write আশ্চর্য্য type: a + S + ` + c + r + ` + y + ` + y

I can not see any Bangla. Only see some Boxes or Question marks. Why?
You need Unicode support in your system. Read this for help.

Where can I find the C/C++ or Java version?
T C/C++ version haven't been uploaded. But you can find the Java version (executable JAR file) from here with PDF documentation available here.

These programs are far from being complete, and some bugs are there.
That's why this is still in ALPHA version. ;)

Why bother about a JavaScript version?
The JavaScript version can be used within a web page where Bangla input is required but client side Bangla input support may not be provided always. JavaScript is available with almost ANY browser now a days so, doing input in Bangla in web pages will be a lot more easier.

Now you can check the thing out:

Freedom of Decisions

Today is the Independence Day of the Democratic, Sovereign Republic of India. Today we become a 61 year young nation.

And we are free. And even with the vote bank politics often playing on cast-cards, we remain primarily a secular and liberal nation.

But what is freedom?

Freedom means having the liberty of making your own choices. Yes, this includes the wrong ones too. It’s about the liberty of making free choice about which song you sing, which dress you wear, which God you follow (or the liberty of not following any if you are an agnostic), which language you speak etc. etc. provided that these choices of you does not harm that of others.

What about making choices?

Do we always have an option? "When the only choice is perhaps the wrong one, it’s more like FATE."

Or when the closure of our thought comes, we bound to choose an option which is more like the result of a random experiment than a logical outcome.

I know this article is also getting messy like always. Diverting from where it started and flowing without any proper direction. In fact, this is another messy post flowing with the flow of my already messed up mind.

The question however, is simple. Can you make any logical decision? While taking a decision you start thinking with respect to a set of theory-judgment-prescriptions and a point of view. Let’s call these theory-judgment-prescriptions as the ‘options’ you have. Of course, you can have many more options to choose from (rather other decisions to take) which are outside this set. But these are not our concern because the universe is infinite and in any point of time you can have no less number of possible choices than infinite itself. So, let’s say that we can not bring up any new ideas while the decision making process is on. This means taking a decision means choosing one from the options.

The entry point of decision making process is when you start thinking with a set of options and a point of view. Then the implications of each option starts becoming clear to you and you go into a comparative analysis of the implications involved which is called opening. But the implications of even a small decision can be infinite. So, we can not afford a real thorough thinking with all of the details involved because we can not keep thinking forever. So, after a certain period we say “Ok, that’s it. After thinking this much it seems this choice is the better one to take.” And we come to a decision and act. This is called closure.

Even if we engage ourselves a real looooooong time in thinking we may not end up at a right decision. Which seems to be the right decision at this moment may be proved to be the worst possible mistake because of the changing time. With the flow of time people change, situation changes, affinity changes, relation changes and so change you. Like the booming IT sector of 2006 crashes with some sort of things called US Recession, Rupee Appreciation, Indian Economic Slowdown and Blah-Blah…

Blogging from Delhi

How does it feel when you are away from home. After a day long journey in Poorva Exp I reached now delhi and got into a hotel... and now as usual passing useless time in a Delhi cyber Cafe...

10 rupees for half an hour, this means i still have 10 minutes left. This marked amount of time is a bit peculier. You can not just dump and go, yet, youo can not sit and think to... deliver a better post.

Ha Ha Ha

I know it is rubbish as usual. I am not even properly using the spell checker.

Anyways bye...
