WORLD CUP FOOTBALL 2006

My point of view

- Joydip Datta

If I say, this year was special for football lovers across the world, (let me assume) you will ask “Why?” Then I will answer “It is because World Cup Football 2006”. Then you will probably want some more information on this tournament. I will deliver those copying from a daily news paper. After delivering a good damn detail of the game, at the last phase, (again let me assume) you will ask “Can you tell me who the winner was?” and I will say “Italy”. And this essay will turn out to be another ordinary newspaper reporting especially suitable for Anandamela and probably Desh also. So, I do not want my essay to deal with those silly information and cliché stack of views-counterviews (stealing from the newspaper… of course!). Apart from that, I would like to share some of my personal views with you.

VIEW #1:

I think World Cup 06 was a very good method to turn the mankind living in eastern countries like India into a nocturnal species. During the world cup, we use to sleep usually at 3:00AM daily. But we had to rise up at the routine time as we also had to attend our works. And the result? Officers doze at the office; clerks and peons also doze. Drivers doze on the road. Teachers doze at the classrooms. The students whose schools are open doze at school and who are still in their vacations doze at home.

VIEW #2:

This second view deals with some more important matter.

Ok, tell me, whom did you predicted to be the champion? Brazil? Argentina? Germany? England? ......... Which country? I am sure you couldn’t even think about Italy. Not even in wildest of your dreams.

If you guess that I am now going to write about the tactics that Italy followed to win the World Cup, you are wrong. I am not even going to discuss about the negative points of the so called big teams. I just want to talk about the gambler who dared to play a bet on Italy.

VIEW #3:

I do not know why the people in India pay so much attention on these tournaments. As India is not playing in the World Cup nor it has any chance of that in next 60 years* I just don’t find any attraction towards these kind of world cups. Before the tournament I tried to find out a team which I could support. But even after a great deal of thinking, I was unable to find out any single team that had any solid reason of supporting. Moreover, India as a football playing nation does not make any difference in the world football map. And there is hardly any chance of that in near future. Supporting any other team is basically like to be satisfied with an inferior substitute.

Explosion 1: VIEW 4

The views mentioned here are completely personal and have no connection with other people’s views. If there is a similarity then it is purely coincidental. The passages do not make any kind of expressed or implied guarantee of meeting your requirements including but not limited to the cultural and behavioural shock after reading some bakhwaas item. But you are always welcome to pluck your hairs and spell as many curses and slang as you want. Ha! Ha!! Ha!!!
